Advantages of the GDC - gravity die casting process

In the daily production of aluminum or zinc or copper alloy products, high pressure die casting is used a lot.
Except that, gravity die casting is also widely used, for the big size spare parts.

Referred to as Permanent Mould, GDC - Gravity Die Casting, is a repeatable casting process used for
non-ferrous alloy parts, typically aluminium, Zinc and Copper Base alloys.

The process differs from HPDC - High Pressure Die casting, in that Gravity- rather than high pressure- is
used to fill the mould with the liquid alloy. GDC is suited to medium to high volumes products and typically
parts are of a heavier sections than HPDC, but thinner sections than sand casting.

GDC - Gravity die casting process has the following outstanding advantages:

1. Better surface quality than sand casting
2. Good accurate dimensions
3. Thinner wall thickness can be cast compared with sand casting
4. Lower tooling cost than high pressure die casting
